TRAINING & DOCTRINE COMMAND |

The Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) was established in 1981 with the main aim of developing doctrine as well as formulating training Policies in conjunction with Army Headquarters (AHQ) for the Nigerian Army (NA). In line with this role, TRADOC serves as the think tank of the Army. Apart from the doctrine and training policy evaluation.
TRADOC has been monitoring all training exercises and conducting all promotion examinations
on behalf of the NA.
TRADOC works effectively as a result of the interplay and efficiency of its directorates
and departments. These directorates and departments are:
HQ TRADOC
The HQ TRADOC consists of the Commanders office, Training Branch, Logistic Branch,
Administrative Wing and other minor elements.
DOCTRINE AND COMBAT DEVELOPMENT (DCD)
The Doctrine and Combat Development Department is responsible for formulating and
evaluating doctrine and combat development policies of the NA.
DIRECTORATE OF TRAINING.
The Directorate of Training (DOT) is responsible for the monitoring all exercises within
Formations and Corps Schools and the overseeing of all training matters in the NA. DOT
also determines which courses are relevant to the Army. It is also responsible for conducting
all promotion examinations for the NA.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TEST AND EVALUATION DEPARTMENT
The RDT & ED departments is responsible for liaison with other research establishments
of the sister services, Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and other civil
establishments and universities for research and developments activities that are of benefit
to the NA in particular and Nigeria in general. They also coordinate the production and test
use of prototypes of equipment and spare parts for military machines
